Both pathways, every figure, and a link to the page it came from. No gate, no email, no “contact us for details”.
Enbridge Gas and Save on Energy run the Home Renovation Savings programme together, with support from the Ontario government. It has two routes and they are not interchangeable.
One measure. No energy advisor. Must be installed by a participating contractor, and the programme website states that contractor registrations for the attic stream are currently closed. One attic rebate per home, ever.
| Existing insulation | Upgrade to | Maximum rebate |
|---|---|---|
| R–12 or less | R–50 | $1,250 |
| Over R–12 to R–25 | R–50 | $1,000 |
| Over R–25 to R–35 | R–50 | $800 |
| Cathedral / flat roof, R–25 or less | R–28 | $750 |
| Cathedral / flat roof, R–12 or less | R–20 | $650 |
An energy advisor assesses the house before the work and again after. At least two qualifying upgrades are needed; a third adds a $500 bonus. Slower, more paperwork, considerably more money if you are doing more than the attic.
| Upgrade | Maximum rebate |
|---|---|
| Attic, R–12 or less to R–50 | $1,500 |
| Attic, R–12 to R–25, to R–50 | $1,200 |
| Attic, R–25 to R–35, to R–50 | $900 |
| Exterior wall, more than R–20 added | $3,600 |
| Exterior wall, R–12 to R–20 | $2,100 |
| Exterior wall, R–7.5 to R–12 | $1,200 |
| Basement wall, more than R–22 | $1,500 |
| Basement wall, R–10 to R–22 | $900 |
| Crawlspace wall or ceiling | $600–$1,200 |
| Basement slab | $500 |
| Foundation header / rim joist | $300 |
| Exposed floor (over a garage) | $300 |
| Air sealing | Up to $250 |
| Windows and doors | $100 per opening |
| Heat pump water heater | $500 |
| Third upgrade bonus | $500 |
Amounts are set by Enbridge Gas and Save on Energy, quoted here from the programme pages — attic stream and assessment stream — checked 17 September 2026. Programme terms change without notice.
The programme is scheduled to close on 30 November 2026. It has been extended once before, from November 2025. We do not know whether it will be extended again, nobody selling you insulation knows either, and any contractor telling you with certainty that it is your last chance is guessing. What we can tell you is what the programme itself publishes, and what it publishes today is that date and a closed contractor list.
You do. The rebate is paid to the homeowner by the programme. We prepare and submit the file because we have to — the installing contractor is part of the claim — but the payment is yours and it does not come off our invoice unless we have agreed that in writing.
Programme processing times vary and are outside our control. We give you the submission and the reference so you can chase it directly rather than through us.
The Greener Homes grant is closed. The interest-free loan programme has its own rules and its own status, and you should check it directly rather than take a contractor's word for it.
Eligibility depends on programme dates and on when the work and the submission land. We book with that in mind and we tell you where you are in the queue. We do not take a deposit on a promise about a date we do not control.
