days left on the attic rebate — up to $1,250, no energy audit — how it works

Every Rebate, In Full

Both pathways, every figure, and a link to the page it came from. No gate, no email, no “contact us for details”.

The two pathways, plainly

Enbridge Gas and Save on Energy run the Home Renovation Savings programme together, with support from the Ontario government. It has two routes and they are not interchangeable.

Route one — attic only, no assessment

One measure. No energy advisor. Must be installed by a participating contractor, and the programme website states that contractor registrations for the attic stream are currently closed. One attic rebate per home, ever.

Route two — assessment required, two or more upgrades

An energy advisor assesses the house before the work and again after. At least two qualifying upgrades are needed; a third adds a $500 bonus. Slower, more paperwork, considerably more money if you are doing more than the attic.

The rules that catch people out

  • Half the invoice. On the attic stream the rebate cannot exceed 50% of the project cost after tax. Tier is a ceiling, not an entitlement.
  • Once per home. If a previous owner claimed the attic rebate, the house has used it.
  • Participating contractor only. Work done by a company not on the programme list does not qualify, retroactively or otherwise.
  • Eligible homes. Detached, semi-detached, row or townhouse (not stacked), and mobile homes on a permanent foundation. Not a home occupied less than six months.
  • Eligible accounts. An active Enbridge Gas account where the house is heated by a gas furnace or boiler; otherwise connected to the Ontario electricity grid, for homes on electricity, oil, propane or wood.
  • Assessment route needs two measures. One upgrade on that pathway pays nothing.
How the attic rebate is calculated against the invoice, including the fifty per cent ceiling Two houses, same tier, different outcome House A · invoice $3,400 $1,250 back Tier pays $1,250, and $1,250 is under half the invoice. Paid in full. House B · invoice $1,900 $950 back Same tier, but the ceiling is half the invoice, so $950 is the answer. Rebate is capped at 50% of the project cost after tax. Figures are examples. The deadline, and what we actually know

The programme is scheduled to close on 30 November 2026. It has been extended once before, from November 2025. We do not know whether it will be extended again, nobody selling you insulation knows either, and any contractor telling you with certainty that it is your last chance is guessing. What we can tell you is what the programme itself publishes, and what it publishes today is that date and a closed contractor list.

Common questions

Do I get the money, or do you?

You do. The rebate is paid to the homeowner by the programme. We prepare and submit the file because we have to — the installing contractor is part of the claim — but the payment is yours and it does not come off our invoice unless we have agreed that in writing.

How long does the payment take?

Programme processing times vary and are outside our control. We give you the submission and the reference so you can chase it directly rather than through us.

Can I combine this with the Canada Greener Homes Loan?

The Greener Homes grant is closed. The interest-free loan programme has its own rules and its own status, and you should check it directly rather than take a contractor's word for it.

What if the programme ends before my job is done?

Eligibility depends on programme dates and on when the work and the submission land. We book with that in mind and we tell you where you are in the queue. We do not take a deposit on a promise about a date we do not control.
